Mouth Watering Pizza

On nights where we don't have to get up the next morning, we will chose a lengthy movie, like Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, and we will make some homemade pizza! We enjoy making homemade pizza so much, we don't enjoy buy a frozen or a pie from a restaurant! This is because we get to choose how it is made; how much cheese, how well done the dough is, the toppings. these are all things that we feel make or break a quality pizza pie.

I am going to let you in our favorite way to make pizza. It is all about the dough. our favorite dough is from Whole Foods. they have frozen multigrain raw dough, Ryan does the stretching and rolling of the dough, I cut up our toppings and cheese, and Khora hangs out in her high chair watching us typically dance and sing while we prep our pizza.

”Oh, this is the night, it‘s a beautiful night, and they call it Bella Notte”

Yes, we do sing Bella Notte while making pizza! How can you not?!

So get your choice of pizza dough!

Set your oven to 400 degrees, after you are done with your dough, place it on a pizza stone (Or pan lined with parchment paper) place in the oven until the dough is slightly rising.

Next, in our house, we cannot make pizza with regular red sauce ever again after making this delicious sweet onion sauce! This is based on https://caitsplate.com/vegan-roasted-vegetable-pizza/ recipe! I just tweaked it slightly!

  • 2 large onions, roughly chopped

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2-3 tablespoons brown sugar

  • Salt & pepper to taste

Place a large non-stick skillet over medium heat and add olive oil, let it get hot! Then add the chopped onion, brown sugar and a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Cook on medium-low heat until onions are translucent and browned, (stirring occasionally for even caramelization), then add just a bit of water (usually 1/4 cup works here, start with less and add to it) to the pan to deglaze, let it simmer until they water is Almost evaporate. Remove mixture from the pan and transfer to a high speed blender (or food processor), blending until smooth-ish.

Smother your pizza dough in this delicious sauce! Add your choice of cheese! (we go with miyokos mozzarella) And your favorite toppings!

some of our favorites:

  • mushrooms

  • roasted red peppers

  • black or kalamata olives

  • sun dried tomatoes

  • vegan pepperonis

  • minced roasted garlic

  • pesto or fresh basil

Make this your own and let me know how your pizza night with your family goes!
